Contribution of the family caregiver to the self-care of the patient with Heart Failure in a specialized center

The family caregiver plays an important role in the self-care of patients with heart failure; Supportive relationships improve outcomes for people with heart failure and caregiver decisions contribute to the maintenance of self-care. Objective: to determine the contribution of the family caregiver, to the self-care of the patient with Heart Failure, who attends a specialized center in the city of Monteria - Colombia. Materials and methods: descriptive scope study, quantitative, transversal approach. The sample was 222 caregivers of patients with Heart Failure, the sampling was of an intentional type with 99% confidence level and 1% margin of error. Results: 222 caregivers met the inclusion criteria established in the design of the present research; These were characterized by being mostly women (74%), the average age was 46 years. The caregiver's contribution to patient self-care was high, with an average of 80 points. Conclusions: other research is necessary to identify a panorama in Colombia, which in turn contributes to what is described worldwide.
